3 hours; 3 creditsAnalysis, on an elementary level, of the nature of mathematicalreasoning; elements of set theory; some simple postulational systems.(A student who is enrolled in or has completed a MathematicsDepartment course numbered 5 or higher or Computer andInformation Science 2210 [11] may not take Mathematics 1101 [1.3]for credit except with permission of the chairperson.)Prerequisite: course 2 of the New York State Sequential MathematicsCurriculum, or two-and-one-half years of high school mathematicsincluding one year of geometry and a course in intermediate algebra, orMathematics 0.04, or a grade of C- or higher in Mathematics 0.35 or0.36 or 0.44, or the equivalent.
