3 hours, 3 creditsApproaches to the Western Tradition: study of a selection of texts from the Western literary tradition or canon; emphasis on the connections between the texts, cultural context, and origins of literary canons; examination of change in canons over time in response to social and aesthetic pressures. (Not open to students who have completed Core Curriculum 3102.) 2017-2018: Satisfies Pathways College Option requirement. Starting Fall 2018 Satisfies Pathways Flexible Core Individual and Society requirement. Prerequisite or corequisite: English 1010 [1].
