3 hours lecture; 3 creditsThe focus of this course is on the management of work units chargedwith technical renewal or new applications of technology. The practicalproblems of people in industry, involving interpersonal relations, groups,leadership, and organizational change, will be viewed in light of theoverall strategy of the firm. Issues will range from managing projectgroups in traditional pyramid organizations, as well as in the newermatrix organizations, to managing the transfer of technology on aninternational basis. This course will use the case study approachpredominantly, but also will include small group student projects. Thiscourse is the same as Business 3440 [50.8]. (Not open to studentswho have completed Economics 50.8.)Prerequisite: Computer and Information Science *1050 [5.2] orpermission of the chairperson.
