2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory; 3 creditsA comprehensive survey of the design, implementation, history, anduse of the Internet. Data communications and network concepts,Transmission Control Program/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), client-servercomputing, e-mail and Web applications, Hypertext Markup Language(HTML), and client-side scripting tools. Security issues, financial andpolitical applications, ethical concerns. (Not open to students who havecompleted any computer and information science course numbered2000 or higher.)Prerequisite: Core Curriculum 1312 [3.12] or Core Studies 5 or 5.1 orany course in computing.
