3 hours; 3 creditsDesign and implementation of operating systems for large computers.Multiprogramming, multiprocessing, time sharing. Resource allocationand scheduling. Communications, conversational computing, computernetworks. Memory protection, interrupts, segmentation, paging, andvirtual memories.Prerequisite: Computer and Information Science 21 or 3130 [22]; and3305 [27] or 3310 [27.1] or 3315 [28]. It is recommended thatstudents be acquainted with at least two computing platforms (e.g., PC,Macintosh, UNIX workstation, IBM mainframe) before takingComputer and Information Science 3320 [25].
