Adolescence Science Education: Student Teaching Practicum II

Description

150 hours of supervised teaching; 2 credits Advanced course in student practice teaching. Opportunity for more extensive and intensive participation in teaching and school activities. Hours to be arranged. Daily supervised student teaching in grades and subject areas appropriate for New York State certification requirements. Observing, developing, and studying curriculum in light of teaching experiences and observations. Formal and informal methods of assessing student learning and the means of analyzing one's own teaching practice and skill in using information gathered through assessment and analysis to plan or modify instruction, and skill in using various resources to enhance teaching. Provide candidates with experiences in a variety of communities and across the range of student developmental levels of the certificate, experiences practicing skills for interacting with parents or caregivers, experiences in high need schools, and experiences with each of the following student populations: socioeconomically disadvantaged students, students who are English language learners, and students with disabilities.
