Promoting critical thinking through children’s books in language arts. Study of multiple literacies and narrative structures. Curriculum development and planning and instructional strategies for teaching the language arts to all children, including multilingual learners and students with special needs. Emphasis on multiethnic children's literature and arts experiences within a culturally sustaining framework. Focus on writing development and writing pedagogies as an essential part of literacy. Continuation of portfolio development. Prerequisite: Childhood, Bilingual and Special Education 2001 and 2002. Corequisite: CBSE 3204/3301
